I'm Clifton Evans, a UX professional with over two decades of experience working with some of the largest and smallest organisations in the world. I practice Research & Design for software, mobile and web systems. I have worked internationally and locally, on projects ranging from global and national platforms to local startups with complex apps.
Platform for Giftcards
While Head of UX for this Digital Giftcard Startup, I directed the Product Design of the new CleverGift Platform resulting in a brand new product and service, and another 2 Million investment secured. My team redesigned and customised the platform for global retailers including Brown Thomas, ShopDirect, Zalando, Footlocker & eBay.
Trinity Research Centre
As a Lead UX Researcher with Trinity, I led the research and design recommendations for several client projects in Health Tech and Digital Education. This included a state of the market report on Wearables & Emotion Tracking, substantial research into AR & VR, AI & ML, Chatbots, Gamification, Ethics & Cognition surrounding new technology.
Ecommerce Research & Design
Leading Up the UX component of the Dublin office, I optimised research and design processes for larger eCommerce clients, including a 380% increase in conversion for Eir Business. While there, I acted as Head of UX on solutions for Eir, BMW, Hertz, Tayto, Thomas Cook, UCD, Cartrawler & Coillte.
Here are case studies of the projects I've worked on over the years, have a look to find out more about each specific project. As well, have a look at my history and experience or download my portfolio or my resume, to get a better idea of how I might be able to improve your project.
There are dozens of UX processes that I have worked with extensively, but there are 3 general themes that I use when planning a UX project. These themes are often a general guideline for a more detailed project plan, and they are not always in this order.
Research methods vary depending on the project need, from user testing, human factors evaluations, service design and innovation workshops, to assessing the state of the art, the competitive market and academic advancements. Some projects focus completely on research, providing a complete report on a specific need, and other projects integrate research data into the design.
Behind every good design lies a decent plan. This plan can be found in the labelling of terminology, the visual cues and indications, or in the users pathways through a system or application. Designing the plan for a product is sometimes the majority of the focus in any given project, requiring a redesign of the information architecture, a new business strategy or reframing the major design concepts.
Prototyping tends to be the most indicative of the final product and the design direction. This is an almost essential part of any design or redesign, saving weeks of development time and preventing many foreseeable errors. Prototypes provide essential feedback and the ability to sign off on the product design, before it hits the code.
Originally from Vancouver, I was a member of the original User Experience, Information Architecture and Interaction Design communities, and took part in many industry forming discussions, including taking part in the UX and IXD monikers being voted on.
I studied Digital Design at the Vancouver Film School, followed by a Masters in Design for Interaction at Westminster University in London, and I have been researching towards a PhD with Trinity College in Dublin looking at New Forms of Cognition.
